In the "real world" we arrive at ideas seemingly through happenstance. Is it the echo in your shower, or the warm water dancing around your body? Do you create with music blaring, or in the quiet confines of your mind? Or are "ideas" the sole property of creative-types?
Well,
we believe everyone can have access to some of the greatest minds who ever lived... and even contribute their own mindset as well. So, since 1999 we've been developing an application that works like humans think. And then we made it simple, fast and fun to use, so people would engage ThoughtOffice as naturally as they would call on a trusted advisor... but without the formality.
You arrive at creative solutions almost immediately. The program does the hard work for you, but works so closely WITH you that the ideas you create become instantly familiar and encourage even greater exploration.
One of the greatest things about ThoughtOffice is that it grows with you, forever. Like Artificial Intelligence, ThoughtOffice allows you to help it remember new thoughts and ideas, and then links you to them as you brainstorm.
How it Works: ThoughtOffice uses what we sometimes refer to as a "stream of consciousness" to find associations from a single word or phrase. These streams prompt your memories and open up new ideas, new phrases, words and associations that lead to even more thoughts, more ideas, ad infinitum. It's a simple three step process that goes something like this:
1) Type in a word or phrase, or answer one of thousands of questions.
2) Explore the associations provided by the IdeaBank»
3) Record the results, and loop back to the beginning, using a new word generated by ThoughtOffice»That's all there is to it. (well, not ALL there is to it. But that's where it starts, and all you need to know to make ThoughtOffice work). But underneath the simplicity of ThoughtOffice is 39 years of associative thinking design, many millions of dollars dollars and more than 250 experts applied to the job of making the most sophisticated software and branstorming solution, amazingly simple.
Q: Does ThoughtOffice differ from a traditional theasurus ?
A: Do bears sleep in the woods? The traditional thesaurus is composed only of a list of synonyms. For example, the word red (meaning color) is listed with words like crimson; garnet; rose; and rust. ( most traditional thesauruses will have 10 to 20 synonyms listed under red.) ThoughtOffice is also composed of some of the most popular synonyms. But the primary purpose of ThoughtOffice is to list idea-generating Metaphoric Associations. For example, the word red (meaning color) is listed with cardinal (bird); apple; blood; fire; red curb; blush; angry; Red cross; and red-eye flight; etc. ( ThoughtOffice has nearly 700 metaphoric associations listed with red alone. Also, ThoughtOffice has continuous "loops" throughout all of it's 65,000 word database. For example, red ~ fire ~ forest fire ~ forest ~ tree ~ spotted owl ~ bird ~ fly ~ red-eye flight, etc., etc. ThoughtOffice has millions of these virtually unlimited associational combinations. In addition, ThoughtOffice contains tens of thousands of idea-prompting questions covering specific task oriented areas like advertising, developing a new product, strategic planning, naming etc." The user can also add personal associations to ThoughtOffice.
